Abstract Acupuncture is one popular modality of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) among CAM. Acupuncture is and utilized increasingly by women for certain female-specific health conditions. However, the evidence for the application of this modality, especially for treating amenorrhea, is frequently based on case report studies. There has been a lack of randomized controlled trials (RCT) or large cohort studies on this topic in the English literature. Some small-scale cohort or case studies indicate that acupuncture, compared to hormonal therapy, can be advantageous for women with amenorrhea. However, more in-depth studeis, such as RCTs or large cohort studies, are needed to develop clear guidelines in this area of treatment.
